Well they may have failed in giving the memorandum, i do not know if it was due to the police pressure or whether other issues were involved, but it seems that the members of Hindraf will go directly to the queens palace on january to pass it. However, the rally was not mainly about the memorandum in the first place wasn’t it? It is about RECOGNITION. Acceptance of the fact that as long as ARTICLE 153 Kesatuan Melayu is present in the malaysian constitution, Malaysia WILL always remain a racist and bigoted nation that treats its minorities as second class citizens. Today, what Hindraf did was not only open the eyes of each Malaysian to the fact that our rulling government is racist but had also achive in letting the world know that despite Malaysia’s ‘multicultural’, ‘democratic’ approach, there is some SERIOUS flaws in the system.

What irritates me the most is todays headlines on newspapers, Utusan Melayu (or was it Malaysia?), said that the rally turned out to be extremely ugly in which the Indians had beaten up many police officers, threw down motorbikes, and locked people up in hotels etc etc caused a big Havoc in KL just because we are ”kononnya dipinggirkan”. Haih, I just don’t belive it, when international correspondents and independent journalist have all covered the story and have found the protesters peaceful, where did they get that news from? Do I even need to answer, Of course the government is trying to cover up that the protesters were ‘violent’ and the police had to take the right action when it was the police who started the whole violence in the first place. I have even heard of a story, on that day itself, that one guy at the rally found it weird that ambulance arrived in aid to the police when no one even did anything to them. The Star and Times covered less on the issue due to media censorship of course. When we have an Informations minister who goes on Al-Jazeera and says ‘Erection in Malaysia Occurs once in 5 years’, I am sure that these idiots are behind the media censorship of Malaysia.

And yesterday, all over the comments section in youtube in videos regarding the rally were fueled up by racial remarks targeting other races. I was frustrated at not only the Malays hitting on the NonMalays but as well as the other way around, because once again, racism does not help anyone people. We have to be civic minded, and fight for democracy, race should not be an issue people. All we are fighting for is equal rights, whether it’s for Malaysian, Chinese, Indian or even a Mat Salleh born in Malaysia. Anyone who has a Malaysian Identity card should recieve equal oppurtunities.

If one scored well in his exams, he deserves a seat in public universities. Who cares if it would make it all-malay, all-chinese or all-indian because those who work hard for the seat should recieve it. His skin colour should not be the barrier of him getting an education.  

1. At 830, we had a 2 hour written paper on the Central Nervous System wic consist of 20 MCQ, 2T/F, 4Short answer question and 2 Long Answer Questions. I finished ‘bantai-ing’ my MCQ and TF in5 minutues. And all the SAQ and LAQs i answered with one sentence. I FINISHED THE PAPER IN 20 MINUTES. Then Bored, i decided to to add in some Blackout quotes by BRITNEY SPEARS in my paper so that at least my Indian lecturers would be entertained. These includes:

“Im Cool As Fire, Baby Hot As Ice, If U Neva Been To Heaven, This Is Twice As Nice”

“Ooh Ooh baby, Touch Me And I Come Alive, I can Feel U On My Lips, I Can Feek You Deeo Inside”

and of course

“The Incredible Lygno, The Legendary Ms Britney Spears, And The Unstopable Danja”

Well, there were many more and i quoted Spears at the end of each. Then I was bored and left the hall, after half an hour.

2. The next was Viva, which once again was obviously the worst VIVA i had ever taken ever. Many lecturers were disapointed in me, especially E.S.Prakash , who had kindly offered himself 2 speak 2 me if I had any troubles. How sweet of him.

So thats about it, all hopes of passing the worst paper a medical student can ever sit for is gone just because of my recent Internet addiction and laziness.

The HINDRAF movement is symptomatic of the fundamental problems that remain entrenched in our country and to stoke the flames of racism would only exacerbate racial tensions and animosity among Malaysians.

Malaysians of conscience who are committed to reforming this nation must recognise that a viable opposition is essential and now is the time to support it. For the pro-reform parties in society to work together effectively, they must find common ground, be open to communication and collaboration, and resist the temptation to scapegoat other races for their problems and frustrations.

Divided our voice is weak. But united and enlightened, we can together build a nation that we all can be truly be proud of, and one in which we can live in peace and harmony.

Story:

Muscle-bound Beowulf (Ray Winstone) sails into the Danish kingdom led by King Hrothgar (Anthony Hopkins). He has come to kill the monster Grendel (Crispin Glover) who has slaughtered and even gobbled the heads of many of the King’s warriors. He awaits his target in the great drinking hall where the people used to gather for evenings of carousing. Grendel, it turns out, is a party pooper egged on by his mother (Angelina Jolie), a water demon.

Beowulf struts around telling others of his great accomplishments until Unferth (John Malkovich) dares to contradict him. No matter, the King believes in him, and Beowulf comes through, wrestling nude with the evil one, ripping off his arm, and sending him home to his cave dying. Later, the King commits suicide, and his Queen (Robin Wright Penn) marries Beowulf who takes over the kingdom. But the water demon has a few tricks in her magical bag to get what she wants from Beowulf as a form of revenge. The only message here is that women are evil (especially when they look like Angelina Jolie). This tedious story leaves us with the hero whining, “The demon made me do it!”

The movie is pointless and forgetable. The only people who would like it is 12 year olds. It is overdramatic and just irritating to watch.

Currently 5 lawyers of HINDRAF is seeking justice for the Hindu community through out Malaysia whom are held backwards in term’s of education, special rights, welfare etc. for over 50 years after Malaysia’s Independence from the British by pre-dominant Malay race.

On 30th August 2007, a class action on behalf of Malaysian Indians was filed at The Royal Courts of Justice in London to sue the UK Government 48 trillion pound for bringing in Indians as indentured laborers into Malaya & exploiting them for 150 years & thereafter failing to protect the minority Indians rights in The Federal constitution when independence was granted, Hence making Malaysian Indians a permanently colonialized society until today. A petition with 100,000 signatures are targeted to be collected and be presented to her Royal Highness the Queen of England appoint her Majesty’s Queen Counsels to represent the poor, underclass, oppressed and suppressed Malaysian Indians would be presented at the British High Commission.

This sunday, Hindraf calls for all Indians to march in support, to the British High Commision in Malaysia to submit the petition. The rally is a peaceful demonstration to let people know that the Malaysian Indians are unhappy with the way we are treated as second class citizens in many instances.  The police has not approved a permit for the gathering (as it is not in favour to the rulling government), and has threatened arrest and hard action against these peaceful demonstrators.

 Leave the question of money and the suit behind, or even the discrimination, what we shall focus on is the democracy. Why is it that a NGO is not allowed to have gatherings when it is not satisfied with the government rulling. Is this what we call democratic Malaysia? Take America for instance, If a group of people were not satisfied with the war in Iraq and wished to have a rally against it, the police would have allowed the demonstration whether it was in favour of the government or not. However, in the ‘democratic’ Malaysia, most rallies by the opposition or even NGO’s are branded as ‘illegal’ so as to fear the public from attending it. The only thing that makes the peaceful gathering not peaceful is the police and FRU thugs, who bring their watercannons and tear gasses.

Where is the freedom of speech in Malaysia??

Most Malaysians are only warned by the media against the rally and does not even mention the actual cause of the rally. IM SICK OF MEDIA CENSORSHIP.

I urge all Malaysians who are in support of democracy and equal treatment regardless of race, colour and religion to join in the gathering this sunday for the sake of a nondiscriminative future Malaysia. Remember, wear orange and it is at 9.

If you’re going to the demonstrations, please keep these simple tips in mind :

1. Take public transport to the venue, preferably LRT or PUTRA. It will be almost impossible to enter the city by driving, as the police want to minimize the number of protesters. Not to mention its going to be hellish to park, right?

2. Keep your handphone, wallet and documents in a Ziplock bag, just in case it rains or you get a ‘free shower’ from FRU.

3. Carry a bottle of clean water and some clean clothes packed in Ziplock bags, just in case they use the water cannon again on the protesters. The water ain’t just H2O, its laced with nasty chemicals, and could cause permanent damage if you don’t wash it out of your eyes, and it really stings the skin. Oh ya, forgot to mention there’s also a flourescent marker that reacts to UV light in it, so if they find you later at night at those endless roadblocks, they can make life difficult for you….

4. Finally, do not forget to document the whole experience, either by still or video camera. If the authorities confiscate your device of choice, don’t forget to remove the memory card before handing it over . It’ll make great bedtime stories for your grandchildren when you’re old, to say you were actually, part of a revolution, no matter how small your part
